Culvert 酒店位于长野县宫田町,包括一个家具、产品和艺术品归档的存储设施和宾馆空间。项目位于一个安静的自然环境中,溪流在茂密的红松林中穿行,隧道式建筑的建造结合了预制建造和预应力施工方法。

预制建筑的建造过程,通常是普通部件在工厂中批量加工成型,然后在现场进行组装。其在本项目中应用的一个例子是箱涵(箱形混凝土结构),用于储存埋在地下的水道、通道、电力线和通信线。然而,该施工方式并不能提供该项目建成所必需的无缝隙构成和结构堆叠,所以施工时还通过预应力工程将各部分连接在一起。

预应力施工是一种用于土木工程结构(如桥梁)的技术,在这种方法中,需要对齐各构件,然后用钢丝收紧以连接构件。这实现了无缝和光滑的表面,密封严密,并使得构件具有耐久性。

项目中最常用的每个方形构件重约 12 吨,总共使用了 63 个这样的构件。这些构件的尺寸是根据运送卡车的装载尺寸和起重机可以吊起的重量计算得出的。入口角的 45 度钢筋,在一般的箱涵中也有,主要起到支撑作用,以增强抗震能力。

通过连接这些构件,一个内部尺寸约为 2×2.3 米的细长的隧道形空间被创造出来。十四根钢丝被用来连接每个"隧道",并需要注意在任何时候都要对每根钢丝施加均匀的张力。这意味着需要随着时间的推移逐渐收紧钢丝,直到最后对每根钢丝施加 46 吨的张力。

该建筑由四个堆叠的"隧道"组成,中间则有一个屋顶覆盖。项目中除了长度约为 40 米的狭长储藏室外,还有两个较小的储藏室,但根据设想,随着藏品的增加,将来会有更多的储藏室加入。厨房、浴室、厕所和其他用水设施集中在一楼,一个紧凑的卧室和一个书房位于二楼。

本项目中的窗户尽可能不使用金属框架,长度达 10 米的高透光玻璃被固定在凹槽中,其施工方式与屏风相同。内外空间的衔接,通过室内外均采用了砾石和植物来进行过渡。为了使内部空间更容易行走,砾石用树脂进行了部分硬化。

施工方式不是像通常那样只在砾石上浇灌树脂,而是先将树脂涂在底座上,然后将砾石铺在上面,这样表面就不会变得很光亮。此外,如果直接安装门把手,会显得很突兀,所以建筑师设计了一个原始的把手,它藏在门和墙之间的小缝里。浴缸被雕刻在地板上,使得水面与地板对齐,形成了隧道形状连续的外观。由此产生的不仅仅是建筑,更是一个结合了土木工程概念和产品设计细节的空间。
